Kobo aura one charging issues
My kobo aura one won't charge except when The USB is plugged into it in a very specific position and held there. It will only charge from my HTC One m7 rapid charger for some reason.
Incidentally, it won't power off of its own accord regardless of power settings.
Please don't say to factory reset as I have about 3200 public domain books on it and don't want to lose my progress.
Thanks for any help!

If you need to hold the USB cable in a particular position to charge, then it is most likely physical damage. But, I had this happen for one of my devices. I found a little bit of paper or something had gotten stuck in the port. Once I cleaned it, everything was OK.

As to why only one charger works, if it isn't a fault in the socket, I don't know. But, does it charge when you connect to a PC? Does it connect properly?

The problems with power-off have been mentioned in other threads. It's not something I use, so I haven't noticed it.

If a factory reset is needed, there are a couple of things you can do to save your reading status. If you use calibre, you can use my Kobo Utilities plugin to store the reading status in the calibre library, and then restore it later. Alternatively, you can take a copy of everything on the visible partition when connected to the PC and restore that after the factory rest.

It doesn't have anything in The socket and won't recognise a computer charging, so I can't connect it to calibre. Also there was nothing lodged in The socket.
Any other ideas?

USB contacts are gold plated so corroded contacts shouldn't be cause of your problem and contact cleaner spray can't help.

Yes, I've tried different cables... Only The rapid charger works. Not sure if 2.0 or 3.0, I assume 2 because The charger doesnt specify
