True, but J.K.Rowling did inspire a few generations of kids already to go on to read books for fun. So I don't think the HP books can be considered worthless even if they aren't everyone's cup of tea.

My point is that even though not everyone will like HP (and no one likes every book by every author) that the HP books have done some good in that they have inspired kids to read. Certainly there are a lot worse ways to spend one's time than in reading a book. Of course I also realize I'm preaching to the choir here as most (if not all of us) wouldn't be here at MR if we didn't enjoy the written word.
