Voyage should still be working for now same as ever (assuming you refer to ability for drm to be removed?). The PW3 got screwed because it has 5.16.2.1.1 firmware but Voyage is only on 5.13.6 according to Amazon's page on software updates anyway.

Of course, even it is working right now, no guarantees on how long.

Someone posted an error log on GitHub for 5.12.2.2 is no longer working. But I don't know enough about reading these Logs to tell if it's new, unbroken DRM or user error.

Does "Unknown type encountered in envelope, expected VoucherEnvelope" mean new DRM has been implemented?

but in one of the threads from last month when it was figured out that 5.16.2.1.1 stopped working, this thread, issue 972, there seems to be the same message.

Well, that doesn't look good. I have still been fine with my Paperwhite 2. I haven't bought anything new since the end of last year though. I just removed a few previous downloads from the device and re-downloaded. When I did the same on my Oasis 2, the re-downloaded books immediately had the hardened KFX DRM.

...And, Amazon just sent a copy of that email directly to my Kindle as a "book." Yeah, I can see how it's so hard to continue supporting the device.

I would say we're toast. It look like Kindle's have been modified to change the DRM for KFX and it's possible the K4PC app is soon to go away.

I sent 7 books to a Voyage this week and was able to process them correctly. As you all say, no idea for how long though, but it did work this week.

I can definitely tell that the error indicates a version of DRM that is not listed in 10.0.9 supported list. What exact versions exist on which platform is becoming increasingly difficult to tell, but that is a new one, and probably unique to Kindle devices. Running it on 10.0.16+ would give one better idea which number it is, at least.

Since we're talking about ways that Amazon is pushing code to older Kindles, I just noticed a file that is pending delivery to my Kindle Keyboard. It was first pushed on April 13 and is titled [ed: redacted]_ATVPDKIKX0DER_en_US_US. I haven't bought anything since April 5. This may be a note from Amazon about the May 20 deadline, or it may be some sort of code push. I'm not turning off airplane mode to find out. Has anyone else seen something like this?

Gemini came up with an alternate possibility: This may be a digital certificate. 'Amazon often pushes final security certificates to ensure that the device's internal DRM (Digital Rights Management) clock doesn't "expire." Without a valid security certificate, your Kindle might eventually look at a book you've owned for years and say, "I can't verify you have a license for this," and lock you out. The update ensures that even when the Store is gone, your existing keys stay valid.' Thoughts?

Thank you for the confirmation! I will update the calibre thread. It seems the end of using eink Kindles to liberate Kindle ebooks is fast approaching

I suggest you jailbreak your Voyage and into the OTA firmware block. That may give you more time.

Go to your Content & Devices page at Amazon. Then where it says All content, switch to pending deliveries.

I have one waiting to be delivered to my Kindle Touch. Last attempt April 13. I'd guess it is the letter about it getting cut off.
