Welcome Hamlet ! Yep, that's the idea: just keep editing your post so your list stays in once place throughout the year.

It's the same for me: I want to know just how much I read in a year. I hadn't expected reading 17 books in 2 months though ...

I'm reading this thread over and over just to see what people read and to check out their choices... Great stuff...

I guess I'm late transfering this over from the old thread. I'm going to follow a couple of other folks lead and use Fastolfe's rating system. Also, since I've read a few short stories (about 4-5 chapters eac), I'll count those a 1/2 a book (so 2 short stories = 1 book).

RATINGS SCALE
= the book is a turd, avoid at all costs
= not sure what to make of it
= okay book
= good book, recommended
= great book, highly recommended

= reading in progress

My 2011 Reading List

1. The Passage, Justin Cronin
finished 1/2/11, 784 pgs,

2. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson
Finished 1/31/11, 644 pgs,

3. The Story of O - Anne Desclos/Dominique Aury written under the name Pauline Réage
Finished 1/20/11 (no page count available),

4. Shadow Walker (Neteru Academy), L.A. Banks
finished 1/26/11, 500pgs,

5. Finders Keepers (Dark Avengers Series), L.A. Banks
finished 1/26/11, no page count available,

5 Loser's Weepers (Dark Avengers Series), L.A. Banks
finished 1/26/11, no page count available,

6. The Girl Who Played with Fire, Stieg Larsson
In Progress, 630pgs,

7. Pale Demon, Kim Harrission
finished 2/26/11, 432 pgs,

Well, I'm a bit slow in finding this thread. I've created an Excel file that keeps track of the books I'm reading in 2011. It's in Dropbox and you can access it via the link in my signature.

Kind of a fun challenge as I've never kept track before... We'll see how it goes.

I'm posting to mark my place. Ticker shows progress. I'm actually keeping track on calibre and trying to figure how to import list here. Any insight or help would be appreciated.
thanks and happy reading

Nobody answered me yet as to whether audiobooks and/or graphic novels count. I'll delete these if they don't, though I will be woefully behind, my attn. span is terrible these days. The ones I have finished, I can reccomend, because I have not listed the books or audiobooks that I have started then abandoned because they didn't capture me...

There was a discussion early on about whether audio books count, and I believe the consensus was yes; I don't know about graphic novels. There was also discussion of minimum number of pages per book--I think it was 150.

But, really, there's nothing official about this; you can decide for yourself what counts and what doesn't. Most of us are just challenging ourselves and keeping track of what we read.

Thanks! One of the reasons I got my eReader (Kobo), besides the fact it was on sale, was my hope it will help break my audiobook addiction. I used to love to sit and read. Still do, if I can make myself be still long enough.
