Only? You might have to deal with a cat occasionally geting trapped in it and most people would have trouble going out an about with it.

Perhaps more recommended for the homebody who is not worried about taking his safe out and about?

Well, I only use my ereaders at home, so no need to lug it around. But yeah, a cat might get trapped in it, so I must reconsider.

Think of it not as a cat getting trapped but as experimental confirmation of Schrödinger's cat theory.

The cat would not agree, unfortunately.

If you are new to Readers, you should get a case to try it to see if it's for you. I find it makes holding the Reader easier and I've had 9 different Readers all with a case. A case it also useful for when you are taking your Reader out and about.

No matter what we say, try a case. You may or may not like one. The only way to know is to try it.

Or, maybe stop and think before jumping into a purchase of a case.

If you don't care about the extra cost, sure go ahead and get a case.

Think about how you handle your current electronics, and maybe a case is the extra protection you need.

Maybe you have a similar sized device currently. Did you try a case with it and did you like it?

I have always had cases for all of my electronics simply because accidents happen. I've dropped my phone, readers while I was out and without the cases would have had to spend lots of money to replace them. Having full coverage protected both. The cases were bruised but they did their jobs.

A cover really doesn't add that much weight to a reader since it's already pretty light, but it does make it a lot easier to hold on to. Now the cover on my tablet did increase the already hefty weight of the tablet, I only use that at home.

I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Again, it doesn't add that much weight FOR YOU. It makes it easier to hold FOR YOU. Neither of those is true for me.

And I've never dropped either my phone or my ereader.

I think it was obvious that cfrizz was attesting to her own opinion and experience and not suggesting an incontrovertible fact. In MMV topics, we might as well make that assumption and let it go. When something is clearly a matter of opinion, all that can be expected is personal testimony.

Thank you, yes I was only stating my own experience, I would never state something like this as an incontrovertible fact that applies to everyone.

I also expect some proselytizing.
