NO on WD40 on contacts. (It is fine for pivots. but TEST somewhere other than something that must move. I have had plastic get gummy)
Contact cleaner (that is safe for plastic). With Lube if dust is not an issue. (we used to have 'Tuner Tonic' in the 60's, Volume control cleaner for those old variable resistor (pots) controls.

I think what makes fanfics entertaining is that they go in a different direction than the original story. If it's just a rehash of the original story, why not just read the original story?

Often fanfics provide something that the original author didn't do but the fans wanted to see. As an example, many fans of the manga/anime Ranma 1/2 wanted to see a pairing of Ryoga Hibiki and Ukyo Kuonji but the author just created a custom-made girlfriend for Ryoga. So many fanfic writers have written stories pairing Ryoga and Ukyo.

Yeah, mine's a logitech mouse too. I think they're known for bad switches. Sounds weird but I found shaking it really hard sometimes helps but it's temporary.

I use an anker mouse on my laptop that was working great untill its left button switch started bouncing a few weeks ago. I use a logitech mouse on my dvr which has been mostly problem free, but gets many less clicks per day. I was planning to replace the anker with another logitech, which are much more expensive. (Both are wireless.) Now I don't know what to get.

Any suggestions? (I strongly prefer USB wireless over bluetooth for keyboards and mice.)

I use a silent logi mouse, USB wireless. No bouncing buttons so far.

I use Kensington trackballs because of tendonitis in both wrists. I might use a mouse on rare occasions if I'm in the office.

You might find that the actual mouse button is one of the more standard types. You might be able to find another in a scrapped mouse.

Fortunately for my custom keyfob I have plenty of spare buttons and anticipate I'll have to change one at some point.

I'm not a fan of "2.4 GHz" (non-BT). I don't like eating up a USB jacks for a proprietary dongle. If you use mismatched keyboard/mouse that's two jacks. Of course some people have lots of problems with BT.

The actual buttons are usually 30c Tact switches.
I find the cheap USB corded Trust brand (Dutch & made in China) quite good. Years ago DELL and MS Mice were OK. Logitech was the original, but has been overpriced and poorer quality for years.
I see only disadvantages to BT and especially proprietary cord-free mice.
Some models claimed to be Gamer or more easy to use are worse. A small one is tiring as you can't rest your palm on it. I rest the "heel" of my hand on the desk and mouse end opposite cable and buttons is in my palm so there is full support.

I think pointing pebble is a more accurate description, especially if wireless/cordless

The non-BT ones in the past often insecure.

There are so few ports now on laptops / chromebooks /tablet as laptop that I have hubs anyway often for ethernet (stupid designs too thin for an ethernet port) or other things, so a corded USB mouse is no bother. The USB-C directive should specify a minimum of two USB-C ports. Also it doesn't forbid ALSO having a standard coax power plug. I managed to find a USB-C to USB-A with a USB-C that works to charge host, but it doesn't support higher powers.

What's the difference between a USB dongle and BT other then you have a lot more choice for a USB dongle mouse? The BT mouse I'm using now is similar to what I was using,

The mouse I'm using now is a logi M240 and the mouse I was using is a Logitech M325.

That most PCs have BT built in nowadays, so no dongle needed.

Laptops, yes. Rarer on desktops. Not at all on servers.

A USB dongle can be generic BT, works with any BT mouse, headset, keyboard.
OR
A USB dongle can be proprietary 27 MHz, 49 MHz or 2.4GHz, and usually only works with device it came with (joypad, mouse, keyboard). May not be encrypted. In theory the 315 / 430 approx (USA vs elsewhere), or Euro 864 MHz (USA maybe 915 MHz?) can be used, but I've not seen mice use those.

However sometimes BT isn't secure either.

?? So the intercept my Left Click. How do they know where on the screen it was pointing to? OTOH Yes, a unencrypted keyboard is subject to local sniffing, ant you type passwords and account numbers. After a bit of time, a picture of data use might reveal those, Just like ISBN, credit card numbers have a exact pattern. Apply the 'check' algorithm and it will validate it is a 'proper' card #.
But BT needs the sniffer to be close. Under 30' indoors.
