Hospital Sketches (1869)

First serialized in the Boston newspaper Commonwealth, and then published in book form in 1863, revised with additions in 1869.
This is an account of Louisa May Alcott’s experiences as a nurse in the American Civil War, originally written as letters to her family, then later reworked as a series of articles in which the narrator is Nurse Periwinkle.
