is dingo the software of the ee

Bought an EE lat week.
Is Dingo the basic software of te EE. My EE last software update is from 2010 12 23. (version 1.6.4541.4). This is different from what I read from Dingo (1.11). When I try to use the you tube application I get the message that this video cannot be played. This is also true for the preinstalled help video's.
I would appreciate help to get this working.
Best Regards
Romée

Welcome to the forums, Romée

The version number to pay attention to is the Build Number at the very bottom of that screen. There you should see "DINGO-1.11". You can always run the Update app to check if there's something newer.

"Dingo" is enTourage's internal code name for the current major release. The previous one was "Coyote", and before that "Badger".

If the videos aren't playing, likely you do need to run the Update app.

Thanks for your fast reply Boris!
I found out that the EE runs the most recent software. The build number is DINGO 1.11.
However I cannot get any you tube (or other video at the internet) playing. The message is always 'this video cannot be played'
So, for my EE the software update seems not have solved the 'you tube problem'

The Tube app is in your app drawer, you should be able to view YouTube videos there. The edge does not have flash - internet videos won't play without flash.

I have tried it again and again, but the you tube apllication doesn't work. After choosing a video I get the answer 'Cannot play video, Sorry, this video cannot be played'

I tried a number of different videos in Tube, and they all worked.

Try shutting down your EE and powering back on, then try again once you have your internet connection established.

To resume:
Boris and cheyennedonna have the same EE, Dingo 1.11 , software version 1.6.4541.4. as me. They can use the you tube application, I cannot on my fresh new EE. What could be the difference?
Any thoughts?

I personally also have mVideoPlayer installed (available in the enTourage app store). It could be providing video playback support to the Tube app, although I'm simply guessing.

At this point I would suggest contacting Tech Support (http://www.entourageedge.com/support)...

@Romee

Do you use the application 'TUBE' (version 1)? That one should work.
I have another app called FREEdi YOU TUBE DOWNLOADER, and that did work, but not anymore now.

Thanks Boris and Sjarrel,
My you tube viewer version is 1.2.6. So the version seems not to be the problem either. I will contact support now, and inform you about the outcome.

Maybe there is a difference between a "You Tube"application and the "Tube" application. The latter came with the EE, I believe. Having said that: it never hurts to contact TS (tech support). Please let is know what they have to say.
