Can I Convert/Export and put the Series info in the Title?
Hi,
I'm trying to get a bunch of books into the Kindle format for use in the Kindle App on my Fire tablet. I was able to do this via converting the epubs to the AZW3 format and copying the files over via USB. However, this just gives me a dump of books with no way to sort them by series. I'm wondering if there's a way that I can redo the convert or export and have the name of the book be modified to include the series info so I can view the books together. I'm envisioning something like: Hunger Games [1] - The Hunger Games Hunger Games [2] - Catching Fire Hunger Games [3] - Mockingjay Thanks! |

{series} [{series_index}] - {title} Code:
[{series_index}] - {title} ->Title The sent to... template affects the FILE NAME. Kindles use metadata I use collections for Series |

If you want to see this info in the calibre booklist then you must either change the title to say what you want or add a "column built from other columns" to show the title as constructed by the plugboard. But I must ask: why? You have both the series and the title columns in the booklist. Why show both in the same column? |

I assume MapleRead doesn't read the calibre database, but instead you export the book to MapleRead using save-to-disk, send-to-device, or the content server. You would use a plugboard to change the title in the metadata of the book you send by one of these methods. If instead you are using some cloud thing to make the book stored in the calibre library available to IOS then I can see changing the title, although personally I would switch to an export method instead of changing the title. You would need to use bulk S&R to change the title in the database to what you want then use Polish (or other methods such as Modify Epub) to update the metadata in the book itself. |

I use content server to send calibre ebooks to MapleRead. BTW if I send a book to Marvin from MapleRead it does show up in the title. The problem must be with MapleRead (or something I've set wrong in MapleRead). So evidently the only way I can get the series into MapleRead title is if I put the series in the title myself. |

I 100% recommend NOT misusing the regular (non-custom) column data IN THE LIBRARY. BTW You can arrange the columns in any order (drag or by Preferences Add your own columns), so you can place the series column next to the Title. This makes 0 changes to the data. If your app does not work for your needs, look for another one. (assumes you have not just missed a setting) IMHO wanting to see All (series) info is not unreasonable. Kluge work-around's will break other types of sorts |

As I don’t use the calibre content server I don’t know if you could take the plugboard. The only option I see is to no longer sort by date added If you wanna see series. I use CalibreSync as a catalogue but I’m fine not having the books on my iPad locally. |
