About iRex 1000

Here: http://ereaders-foryou.com/irex-digital-reader-1000
there is an interesting review about iRex 1000.It looks like a serious device.
Is the review similar to the truth?

Yes, I find it accurate.

Just three small notes:
  • Page turning from buffer is mentioned, but while reading I still got the wrong impression: once you're reading, the device generally has the next page buffered well before you need it and brings it up quite fast. The 4 - 12 seconds to bring up a page is only when you're flipping pages fast or moving to a page from the index.
  • Erasing notes truly erases them. It doesn't permanently leave blank parts. If you draw across a dark area in the page (or a piece of text) and then erase it, your former note will indeed show up as blank during the erasing, but when you show that page again (flip back and forward) the page is simply clean again.
  • Only the DR1000S was ever produced.

This is probably too late, but the numbers for the battery are way off. It says 60 to 70 hours, but 6 to 8 hours is more accurate. The E-ink screen doesn't use power when idle, but the underlying architecture (cpu, memory etc) does.

It says some have claimed 60 - 70 hours. The claim that review actually makes is true for me, as long as I don't do extensive note taking:

Quote:
the device shouldn’t have any problems with lasting a day on a single batter charge.
When device and battery were new I used to charge it every other week, which for my use at that time got me about 20-40 hours of reading out of a charge. By now the battery is degrading - helped I'm afraid by that stupid bug that drains it every once in a while. Nevertheless, when it doesn't decide to drain itself and I don't use it as a notepad (for meetings / during courses), I still don't come up short during a work day's use.

That's interesting. I haven't seen those numbers reported before on this forum. I bought mine when it was 2 years old, so that might explain the difference. 6-8 hours seems to be the limit for me, depending on usage. I don't make notes on my device, so this is purely with reading.
