Chesterton, G.K.: The Flying Inn. Nov 15 2007
Hilarious book.
Another one of Chesterton's great fantasies set in an age in which a fundamental Islam leader has been elected to Parliament and through the help of a mad prophet and a weak Government passes legislation resulting in prohibitions against everything. So our hero named Humphrey Hump. (Great name) starts his own “flying inn”—a donkey-cart at first, and later a motor car—laden with rum, a huge round of cheese, and a pub signpost, willfully and wonderfully undermining the new world order, all “politically correct” claptrap, oppressive nitpicking legalisms, and Ivywood’s teetotalitarianism in one uproarious episode after another. Along the way, the two acquire fellow travelers, disturb the damnable “peace,” and make up and boisterously sing songs to amuse themselves (the book is filled to overflowing with some of GKC’s most delightful poetry). The novel eventually concludes with a decisive war between the West—England—and Islam at “the end of the world” (this last phrase is used as a wordplay more than once in the novel). Harry. Forgive my ignorance but I'm not sure how to make a mobi version using Book Designer. I am going to try and post my "Last file" From Book designer here so you can easily convert it?
Or I can do it? Not sure which button to use in the 'make book' process in Book designer. Anyhow heres the last file... (hopefully) |

I was suggesting that you might like to do it, Roy . Most of us who post books these days post them in both Sony Reader and Mobi format. It's really no more work, if you use BD.
The one thing with Mobi is that you don't get automatic page breaks, so you need to make sure there's a manual page break at the start of each chapter. Once you've done that, though, just click the "Palm" button on the toolbar, and use the following settings: File type: Mobipocket Reader Device: Sony Clie Book name: whatever you want the title to be Clear all the check boxes EXCEPT the "Latin filename" box and, for the final touch, if you have a suitable picture available, drag a cover image onto the "cover file" box (the CyBook shows you your library with the cover images, so this is a nice touch, if a suitable picture is available). That's it. Just click the "Make Book" button and the Mobi book (with a ".prc" extension) is created. Takes literally a few seconds. |

Ok. Thanks Harry!
I did it. Will post now. I have no way of previewing that file (that I know of) so let me know if its done right. Roy Last edited by Roy White; 11-17-2007 at 12:10 PM. |
