Dozens of covers changed?
I just opened Calibre (7.2.0) and found that literally dozens of covers had been changed without any action on my part at all since I last opened Calibre a few days ago. What might have caused this?

Different covers for the same book. I particiapte in a thread on X called #MurderEveryMonday in which participants share mystery covers with a specific theme or element. So I look at at my "Mystery and Crime" tag cover browser every week for candidates. When I did for the week starting Jan 15, I saw that literally dozens of the covers have changed. Book titles and authors all the same, so presumably the contents are too, just different cover images.

That's very strange. Any chance you somehow accidentally downloaded metadata in bulk for those books? I can't think of any other reason at the moment.

You recall correctly As this is my largest single tag, with 380 entries, I am reasonably confident I'd remember doing a bulk metadata update on that many books. Some imp in the the internals having fun, obviously.
