Can you do a clean install with Android?
Suppose a tablet you just bought has too much bloatware. Is it possible to clean install from an Android OS CD and with only the components or apps you want? Can you actually buy or download Android OS CD?
Sorry if this is such a basic question but I am not familiar with Android OS at all. |

That depends on your definition of bloatware and the manufacturer.
Normal third-party bloatware apps can simply be uninstalled like any other app, however, the default Google bloatware apps, e.g. Hangouts, usually can't be uninstalled, because they're part of Android OS, but they can be disabled. Quote:
If you're interested in a refurbished tablet you could reset it and install a special Android version called CyanogenMod that offers more customization options than the stock Android versions. You also might be able to install CyanogenMod versions of Android versions that the manufacturer doesn't support. However, installing CyanogenMod will usually void your warranty. For more information google CyanogenMod and the name of the tablet that you're interested in. |

I misread what you're looking for.
basically, to accomplish what you're looking for, you need to root your device, and then flash a custom rom that is compatible with said device. there's not a raw official android rom per se, but there are many many custom forks of the Open android version that you can look at process is different for every device, and sometimes for every version of the android based rom you might want to look at. xda is probably your best resource for this |
