I personally would probably go for another kindle when I need another ereader, just because most of my library is in mobi at this point. I get rid of DRM when I buy the book though so I have accounts at lots of different stores. For the sis, I still think the Nook touch will be the best bet. If she wants books converted I can show her how with calibre and certain tools.
Another thing that kinda concerns me though is customer service. Amazon has been excellent for me so far. I even had to exchange my kindle keyboard because of a spot on the screen and there were no questions asked. I got the new one the next day and sent the old one off. I have heard that B and N service isn't as good, and some have had issues when their nooks have problems. Also people have had issues with book purchases on the online store itself. This is the only thing that might slightly concern me. There is a barnes and noble near her, but it is a chore to get to as she uses public transit. Seems like all the Barnes and Nobles are disappearing from the Bay Area since I've lived there. I don't know I just want as appealing and simple a process for her overall. I was even going to charge and load some books on it before giving it so she can dive right in. This brings me to another question; will I be able to set it up without her CC as I know that the DRM is tied to a credit card. I was going to get her a gift card as well so she wouldn't have to buy stuff right away, but it would be nice for her to open it and already have a few books there.
