fixing image in sigil
Have a small problem. Converted a pdf to epub using calibre. One image out of fifty has come up at 180 degrees out. Can't seem to copy it in sigil to fix it and get the book right.
How can I get the image out of the epub, sort it out in another program and replace it? Many thanks in advance. Last edited by gpc127; 07-19-2012 at 06:37 AM. Reason: misspelling |

An epub is just a zip file. Use any unzip program to extract the image from the epub. Then work on the image in your graphics program.
When done, open Sigil, delete the file in the section and in the images folder to the left side. Then file new, add existing file, place your cursor where you want the image and then edit insert image. You can do this also by removing the image from the zip file and adding back the fixed one, but files have to be in a certain order in an epub and this avoids that problem. It also lets you see your work so you are sure you have done what you want. Then save the epub under a NEW name, in case something goes wrong. |

Many thanks.
Didn't realise I was dealing with a zipped file. Seems straightforward and I will get on to it. Ta. Last edited by gpc127; 07-19-2012 at 08:04 AM. Reason: misspelling |

Or if you use calibre, select the entry of your book, and 'Tweak ePub', then adjust the image in place, then when done 'Rebuild ePub'

I had quite the same issue <image related> as the OP. So what you suggested did the trick and it was even easier for me, since I had the books in several formats, so just reloaded the epub in Calibre, exploded, used GIMP to rotate and flip the images, exported them back and rebuilt the book. Then converted to mobi. Pure awesomeness !!!
