Free (Kindle) Coyote Brand by John Glasby [Gunslinger vs Cattle Trail Outlaw Western]

Coyote Brand by the late British author John Glasby (ISFDB, Wikipedia, obituary at The Telegraph), is his vintage standalone western historical action adventure novel, this story a tale pitting a lone gunslinger against entrenched outlaws, as a team of cattle drivers taking their herd on the trail finds that the town at the only safe crossing has been taken over by a gang whom none dare stand against, except for one man with a mission, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1964 by John Spencer under the title Showdown using the Chuck Adams pseudonym, and later reprinted under its current title by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym C. J. Beaton.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else worldwide that Amazon sells, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive or else program)

Description
One man, one mission…

Stretching over half a state, the infamous Willard Flats formed a natural barrier against the great herds, which were moved up from the rich plains of Texas to the railheads in the north.

Thomas Warburg and his men followed a path – a path that leads straight to Twin Forks.

Twin Forks was the only place where the cattle could cross in relative safety, but the town has been taken over by Miguel Rodriguez.

The cattle bosses are held to ransom by the outlaw and his gunhawks, and no one dares to stand against him.

But unknown to Rodriguez and the inhabitants of Twin Forks, a lone man was riding north, over the arid wastes of the Willard Flats.

He was a man with a mission, and nothing would stand in his way until he had ended his search and Rodriguez was dead.

Coyote Brand is an enthralling story of justice and revenge – the perfect read for fans of Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey.

The Brits sure do like to write westerns, don't they?

I read once in one of those comparative international business etiquette books that the “cowboys and Indians” mythology of the Wild West was extremely popular in parts of Europe (especially Germany and Italy, IIRC), possibly because the landscape and lawless solitude etc. themes are so incredibly different from the experience of growing up in an Old World country, and a big chunk of local popular entertainment was devoted to or inspired by it (cf. the œuvre of Italian director Sergio Leone, inventor of the Spaghetti Western).

So it was advised for visiting Americans that something Wild West-related in terms of memorabilia was on the list of appropriate Americana business gifts, if one couldn't manage to select something more personalized for the recipient (and the always popular duty-free liquor from the airport shop wouldn't do).
