Between 1911 and 1925 he was so well-known as the world’s greatest humorist that it was said more people had heard of Stephen Leacock than had heard of Canada. Perhaps his most famous books were “Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town” and “Arcadian Adventures with the Idle Rich”, two of his many books of humor. He also wrote non-fiction, including books on political science, economics, history, literary criticism, and biographies of Charles Dickens and Mark Twain. This omnibus, comprised of 25 books, brings you more than 550 stories, essays, and poems from the talented pen of “...Leacock the essentially Canadian humorist, dry and droll, half-clown, half-satirist, whose irony reflects no anger, whose wit is sharp but leaves no sting.” (—J. B. Priestley, Introduction to “The Bodley Head Leacock”.) Thank YOU!
Leacock is one of my favorite humorists --- his writing never seems dated, even though it is from "way back when." Happy reading! |
