Calibre detecting SD card's mp3 files
My Android phone's SD card has 1000s of mp3 tracks (in a Music folder), plus all my mobi books in a Books folder. The file structure on the SD card hasn't been changed recently.
Today, when I connect my phone, Calibre (4.22) automatically starts to get a list of books on the device (Card A) BUT Calibre starts by detecting as "found objects" all the mp3 files on the card--which is, of course, taking hours and hours and hours to do. The only way of stopping the automatic search is by stopping Calibre or unplugging the phone. I can't configure the device in any way because Calibre's already automatically connecting to it. How can I stop Calibre looking at the mp3 files, and point it just at my Books folder? Thanks. |

I do not know the answer to your question, but I suggest you install Calibre 4.23 because 4.23 allows you to select the colors you want to use for the preview in the editor. Calibre was changed on bad advise from a user to be dark in dark mode and that made the preview very hard to use. 4.23 added in custom coloring for preview.

With Android devices and calibre once you've allowed that initial scan to complete you can configure the calibre driver to ignore certain locations on the Android device.
Unfortunately you have to allow that initial scan to complete. |

Thanks, PeterT. I don't know if it's relevant but I closed Calibre, then deleted from the card the files driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre, re-opened Calibre and reconnected the phone. After I'd done that, the initial scan started with the Book folder, and only that folder. The scan still took 1/2 hour but then I've >5k books, so that's not too bad. Problem has gone away -- though whether I actually "solved" it or not, I don't know!
