Hi

Dictionaries should be in stardict format and can be directly side-loaded to koreader/data/dict in their own folder.

PDF crashes

After instaling the v2015.11-585-ge80b62a OTA version on a PW3, I opened a six-inch PDF made with Prince. Ususally I never have any problem.

This time, I had to start the Kindle two times. Then, when reading and taking some highlights I experimented some crashes that wiped out any highlight I had. It does seem that reading a PDF is now unstable for some reason.

No problem for EPUBs.

Just poke in the top right corner, to set a bookmark for that page. Then you can return to that page by selecting the bookmark listing from the menu.

There has been a lot of fiddling with PDF on the kindle version lately, over at Github.

KOreader under Kindle, rendering epub files. I assume it uses the file data/epub.css.

The first page displayed is the cover. The image is rendered at the top and to the left of the page. I definitely want to change this such that the cover is scaled at 100% width and height of the screen.

What are the css classes and selectors dealing with this? Or otherwise, is there a tutorial available for koreader rendering?

Thak you for any input.

The easiest way is to just flick the power button, to put it into suspend mode and bring up the bookcover (assuming you have the "screensaver" set to display the cover).

Koreader still suffers from some constraints regarding image display. I found that svg wrappers are not displayed correctly, that usual css properties like max-width give inconsistent results; I looked for some workarounds to get -for me- good enough results. Now I stick with relative width though absolute width should also be OK.

Best results are obtained with this kind of xhtml and css code: (YMMV)

Spoiler:

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="fr-FR" xml:lang="fr-FR">
<head>
<title>Image</title>

<style type="text/css">body { margin:0 }</style>
</head>
<body>
<div style="text-align:center">
<img alt="Image" id="Image1graphic" src="cover.jpg" style="width:87%"/>
</div>
</body>
</html>

If you want a fine display, the precise relative width must be calculated from the image dimensions using this formula: W/H and ×4/3.

Try to replace the existing code with this one in the EPUB. For using it quickly with the Calibre editor, I made a snippet out of it and I trigger it with the tag img.

Of course, when looking at your EPUB, you have then to use the reading option of the "Integrated style" "activated".

Hi guys...

So, I did manage to jailbreak and install the koreader on my own paperwhite, some time ago. It was, to be honest, not the easiest task for my modest skills(or, more accurately, lack there of).

Which brings me to latest situation. My wife has finally taken the paperwhite plunge. Her firmware seems to be 5.7.4

Is this still doable with 5.7.4...?? Are there special instructions for 5.7.4...??

Thanks.

KoReader keeps crashing on Kindle Paperwhite 3 (5.8.7)

I have an kindle paperwhite 3. I downloaded "koreader-kindle-legacy-arm-kindle-linux-gnueabi-v2015.11-696-g2bc7b01" for it, yet it keeps crashing. I'll attach the crash log.

Hello there!

Strange to see no traffic here for months... I decided to try and update KOReader on my KV, however the latest version it tries to auto-update is from 2015. I did read the instructions, but I was wondering that since KUAL now supports rpi packages, can I follow them and just unzip the downloaded file?

Also, will doing so update my current installation?

Thanks!

The KOReader project at Github, is the real home of the KOReader Developers, they do occasionally visit here though. I think they would not mind a "Thanks" issue being submitted, among the feature requests and problem reports.

The forum is exactly the right place really. If you wanted to be a stickler about it then you might say the forum is for general chitchat and support whereas the issue tracker is about bugs. We're not sticklers, but I would nevertheless strongly suggest to always report bugs on GitHub to make sure we don't overlook them!
