Let's start by ruling out the easy stuff: have you told your home page to display them? Ie set the selectors at the top of the home page to "Downloaded" and "All Items", respectively? It's amazing the number of people who don't read the selection options!

Once we've ruled out that, we can then start looking at the more likely issues.

Thank you - yes all the basic stuff done.

After 3 hours on the phone to amazon and 3 different 'techies ' - despite being able to see them on the hardrive - if I emailed them in batches to the kindle email with 'convert' in the subject it worked it out.

As they all worked before the update, on 2 different kindles, I can only think that the update changed recognised file formats. At least it's all done now - if a long winded process ! Thanks for replying

This may solve most of the problems

Just Download the file from here
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...deId=201756220

This is the file Download Software Update 5.8.5.0.2
Then follow this procedure.
Download it in PC then transfert it to the device using usb cable
and launch the update from the kindle

first connect the device to your pc
connect your kindle to your pc
and copy the file to the kindle
Be sure not to drop the software update file into one of the folders within the Kindle drive
the main folder
eject the Kindle
On your Kindle, go to the Home screen
tap the Menu icon
and then select Settings
Select the Menu icon again
And then select Update Your Kindle
Tap OK to perform the update, it will on and off many times.
