Which social cataloging application
Last-night I started to check online and there are a lot of social networking sites for cataloging and reading. I must admit I was not aware of that or at least, that we have so many. Just curious and would like to know which one you use or prefer ... and why ...
Among others, we have Goodreads, LibraryThing, or Shelfari ... what's your favorite and why you use it or prefer? Last edited by jocampo; 05-26-2011 at 10:33 AM. |

LibraryThing. No *real* reason, other than that's the first one I used and by the time I got around to looking at the others I had already a pretty large list. Mostly inertia keeping me from trying anything else.

The only social thing I do with books is MobileRead, with an occasional foray into the Kindle Boards.

No time for it, I'm afraid. But I like to take a look to see what is happening once in awhile. I think there is potential, especially if a clear winner emerges. Or maybe Facebook just takes over everything...

The Goodreads UI could be less cluttered, but it's easy to use and a lot of people are on it. I don't do that much socializing on Goodreads, I primarily use it to see what everyone else is reading and to see everyone's reviews in one place.

Definately Goodreads. I use Goodreads and MR. I'm all set in that regard.

Hmm, lot of folks using Goodreads.
I opted for Shelfari; like the Amazon integration but saw Goodreads yesterday and looks nice. |

I use Goodreads and Shelfari. I like Goodreads as it integrates book discussions and updates on what "friends" are reading quite nicely. You can track/share where you are in a book, and what your impressions are at that point, and that will be saved. With Shelfari, you pretty much add a review and an end date, and that's it. Neither of them have a really good user interface.

I use Goodreads, but I often go to Librarything for recommendations and groups.

Goodreads. I love it over there. It's where MrsJ and I discuss Harry Dresden's love life.
Besides, being able to act up on Goodreads keeps me out of trouble over here. |

I have a paid LibraryThing account. I like LibraryThing for its robust library cataloguing features, but when it comes to social activities, GoodReads is better.

I voted for GoodReads but I only use it to keep my "to read" list tidy and easily accessible. I don't bother with the rest of the functions.
