Kindle 4 System Corrupted - Need Help
Hi Everyone,
I frequently connect my Kindle 4 to the pc in order to transfer files. For my surprise, when I did it now, my directory structure in the Kindle seems to be corrupted. There's no more subfolders under the documents folder, no more screen saver and a lot of strange files like "trashes" and the like are showing up. The only two folders that appear are: Documents ( with no subfolders as before) and another empty folder " Active-Content_Data (empty). The device seems to be working well except for the screen saver that is not working. I did a "reset factory" but didn't help. What can I do to fix this problem and recovery the original system and file structure? Thanks for your help. |

Do a factory reset. The instructions are in the user manual which you can find on Amazon.

Kindle 4 System Corrupted - Need Help
Hi, thanks for your help. I've already tryied a factory reset before but it didn't help. I guess the way is to try to reinstall the firmware again once the device is not frozen. I only need to know how to do this in worder to make it correctly. Amazon support don't give such instruction. They offered me to return the Kindle and they will send me another one, but as I live in Brazil, they cannot do this. I'll keep trying a reinstall solution to avoid loose the kindle and my money. If you have another clue for me, I'll very much appreciate it. I thank you again for your attempt to help me out , and please excuse me for my poor english.

Read the "simple debricking" sticky thread in the Dev Corner forum. You can fix your problem using the instructions provided there.
