Unable to register to B&N after hard reset

As above, I am currently locked out of my Nook STR after a hard reset (as recommended by a support staff on nook chat) to solve the issue of fonts fading out (which I have come to realise, is not the problem with my set, but the problem of not refreshing every page)

The staff has claimed that the S/N on my Nook is wiped off their data base with my B&N account. But I am getting the error message of:

Error
Sorry we're having trouble setting up your Nook. Please shutdown the device and try again.

If the problem persists, contact Customer Support at 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665)

And there's nothing I can do about it! The staff says the only way out is to return the device (but that is not possible, I'm outside the states and they are unable to ship a replacement unit to where I live)

Are there anyone who faced a similar (or perhaps, the same!?) problem as I did?

Can anybody help? I know I can go about rooting the device (which I probably will) but I'm seeing if there is any way out other than rooting it.. I'm afraid if after rooting, I might not be able to receive firmware upgrades (although devs will most probably support them...)

I can't help. You can still receive firmware upgrades by sideloading them (download from bn.com). They won't automatically install as if you had an Internet connection. You may have to unroot first in order for the update to take and reroot again. Sometimes you may be able to install over root using what's available at xdadevelopers.

Hi there, thanks for the reply!

I understand, my Nook is currently not rooted (I did not root it, the hard reset was not done for that purpose)

I was hoping if there are any advice regarding this issue, it's driving me crazy not being able to use my Nook!

It may reset after the battery is dead and you plug it in to recharge. A true hard reset should do the same thing, but are you certain you did the hard reset properly?

Do you have tried the first method listed here:

http://www.nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM

It's for the nook color but it works also for the N2E.

Thanks folks for your reply! Calling their support indeed helped, I made a really STUPID mistake of registering onto a wrong account (xxxx@hotMAL.com instead of xxxx@hotMAIL.com) but B&N website was nice enough to not detect that it isn't a valid email address :/
