Lightbulb Free (iTunes) Discovery Kids: Sharks [Educational Nature Picture Book + Multilingual]

Discovery Kids Readers: Sharks, aka Read and Discover: Sharks, according to what actually appears on its cover, is quote-unquote "a fact-filled book for young readers" (which also appears on its cover), free courtesy of publisher Parragon Books, which handles The Discovery Channel's series of assorted tie-ins.

This is a pretty nice picture book with lots of photos and little science-y/trivia tidbits.

For those of you wishing to teach your kids Spanish or practice your own language-skills, this is also offered free in an hispanophone version as well.

Currently free, probably just for the duration of this year's Shark Week* which ends tomorrow on the 17th, @ iTunes (available to Canadians), and in Spanish translation as Lee y Descubre: Tiburones, also @ iTunes. ETA: also Kobo for the Spanish edition, as it turns out.

ETA: I should also mention that according to the Discovery Kids Shark Week official promo page, there's a freebie tie-in educational app offered, Discovery Kids: Sharks Free, which is also @ iTunes.

Description
Learn all about sharks with Discovery Kids! Packed with action-packed full color photographs, fun facts, a cool quiz, and a glossary, this reader is perfect for helping kids learn about kinds of sharks, where they eat, where they live, and more in a fun and vibrant manner. Developed with the help of educational experts and ideal for ages 4-8, this Discovery Kids reader is a great introduction to children's non-fiction.

* Incidentally, if you're using Discovery Channel items to educate your kids (apparently not advisable from the TV version, though this book seems okay), you should be aware that the things that actually show up there during actual Shark Week are often Blatant Lies™, which may in turn serve an actual educational purpose by providing a means by which you can encourage the kids on learning the lesson of distinguishing fact from fiction.

And when you're done doing that, the grown-ups among you can relax with the excellent and recommended recipes and activities from a previous year's Shark Week Drinking Game, provided courtesy of DeepSeaNews.
