The setup for my M96C plus
Recently, my boox M92 stopped working abruptly, and I had to replace it with
another boox M9x from the Gernan seller. After several days of work, including reading posts in this forum,I think I am almost done with the configuration of the new M96C plus. Though there are still some minor functions I would like to add to this new device, I am pretty satisfied with the setup now. |

First, use it as a second monitor of the laptop. Two steps:
Step One, install a VNC server-- TightVNC in my laptop Step Two, install a VNC viewer-- bVNC from google play in my M96C Comments: 1, I want to thank Feher et al. (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=173792) for the programs for M92 as a second monitor, without the experience on M92, I would not have done it so fast on M96C. 2. About the above Step One, you may install any other VNC server. But I did not try any other VNC server personally. 3. About the above Step Two for the VNC view, I tried several ways, and ended up this app. a) The previous M92 VNC viewer requires a Java SE, and I could not find one for M96c. So it did not work for me. b) I tried two other VNC viewers from google play, and found out this bVNC viewer runs the fastest. c) I had to google a picture of the setup page, becauce I could not see the setup page in my M96 clearly. 4. Using experience: a) It's much more stable. In M92, I have to connect to the PC by USB wire, and the wire broke from time to time. Now, the connection is wi-fi, so it's much more stable. b) The speed is bearable for me. Though not fastisfactory, it's being used for most of my typing, including this post. c) I can tap the M96C screen to move the mouse. So I also use it for internet browsing. But the touch screen is not very precise, so it's hard to do things such as selecting texts, or resizing a window. |

Second, install a rotation app to rotate the screen freely. One step:
Step One, install Adaptive Rotation Lock from google play. Comments: Before you read a book, you may need to reset the rotating option to Stock Auto. Otherwise, the rotation may not work properly after opening a book to read. Third, install a status bar app to access frequently used apps. One step: Step One, install Notification toggle from google play. Commnts: I would also like to remove some apps from the bottom taskbar in the home screen, and replace these apps with some other frequently used apps. But I have not found a way yet. I wish some one can tell me how to do it. |

Lastly, I wish somebody could tell me how to improve the speed on reading the
external SD card. It's so slow that I seldom connect my M96C to the computer by USB. I've read the post by kuskro (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=255435), it seems there is some hope. But I have not found the precise and clean steps to do it yet. If someone has figured it out, please tell me how to do it. |

Maybe it's also worth mentioning that I also installed the Dolphin web browser
to read html format files, and the GoldenDict for large Chinese Dictionaries such as "汉典". |
