Hi, does anyone have any info on this device?

I am getting close to wanting a new reader and would like to combine a few devices in one. This looks large enough to properly view A4 PDFs and comes with a SIM card slot.

The last is particularly interesting as in Australia you can get prepaid mobile SIM cards for pretty cheap. That would turn this in to an anywhere internet device.

The price seems reasonable as well.

The price seems very nice, and an even better deal on the paper than the Smart Q7. For 30$ more you got a 2" bigger screen, a better resolution, and a Sim card slot.

I would wait for some review though, especially as all the pictures so far are just photoshopped rendering.

It uses MIPS cpu. Software support could be a problem.

there is no real picture of it. It has been said to be available in June, which is almost over ...

Based on the reputation of the alpha 400 produced by the same company, I would keep my hope high.

It's already available on the market in China

but seems only online. Has anybody asked electroworld if they have it in stock?

I sent off an email with some questions about this device. Specifically what frequencies it uses for the sim card and availability. Also if it supports WinCE

It looks like the perfect device to me so there must be some downside
The processor compatibility might be it.

I didn't realise that even with WinCE on a machine programs needed to be written for the processor still. I figured that is why we had operating systems - for hardware platform independence.

the manufacturer only put it on taobao.com (the equivalent to ebay in China). Even so, it was said 'not available' until June. While June is almost ended now.

According to eletroworld a week or so ago, they were supposed to be receiving them today (June 25th). I haven't heard back from them regarding that shipment yet.

I heard back from Eletroworld.

They said it should be on sale beginning of July. Shipping (to Australia I presume) about $45 through EMS.

To use 3G 2100mhz I would need an adapter. I think this means one of the USB modems that the phone companies sell.

They are not sure if WinCE will work on it.

I asked my husband... he looked at what we've been able to find and said he sees no reason why WinCE shouldn't run on it. WinCE is compatible with MIPS. But I don't know about specific applications, since some run on MIPS and some don't.

it is ¥1480 (~$210-220). roughly the same price as on the eletroworld.

1600 is the lowest price allowed by Taobao.com for laptop sales.

Thanks for the head-up on the price issue.

The idea is (I think) to force sellers to sell staffs in the correct category. Of course the seller can instruct the winer to request for "discount" during when paying the item. that is what skytone is doing here, because there is no netbook or MID section on taobao.com.

Does anyone know how much it weighs? How Long does it last on battery? I would use primarily for ebook reading so I would need to have at least 3 hours of run time per charge.

The above link answers your questions. It appears promising although it`s all theoretical at present as nobody has tried one for real yet.
