to wait or not to wait (Display Resolution)?
Hello
What do you think about current and future display resolutions? ( Right now, I am using a 4 year old 6" reader (Pocketbook Touch 622) with a resolution of 800x600 (and without light). My wife recently got a new 6" reader (Pocketbook Touch Lux 3), but with a resolution of 1024x758 (with light). What do you think: is 1024x758 the maximum resolution that makes sense? Or do you think similar readers of the future will have an even higher resolution? I am not sure if I should get a new reader (even though my old one still works fine) or if I should use the old one until it stops working? (I read about 30 minutes per day or more)? |

That's something only you yourself can decide. I bought two new readers this year (with 1448 x 1072 displays) even though my old Kindles worked perfectly well. I just felt like upgrading and could afford it at the time. There are people who upgrade every time a new model comes out, people who never upgrade if not absolutely necessary, and all variations in between. Only you can decide if you want (and can afford) a new reader just now or not.

Agreeing with Sirtel.

Dont wait for future, live on this day.
Compare your reader with that new one and see if its big difference for you. I think you should stay with your old one if it works perfectly and you are used to it. |

It's a question of what's available now - never mind the future. Most higher-end 6" eink devices have a 300dpi screen with a 1448x1072 resolution. 1024x758 is considered rather low these days.

I am really surprised, that 1024 is considered low. What ebook-Readers have a resolution of 1448x1072? |

The Kindle Paperwhite 3, Voyage and Oasis. Also a number of Kobo devices - I'm sure someone will chime in and tell us which ones.

Kobo has the 6" Glo HD is 1448 x 1072, which is the same as the Kindles Harry listed. They also have the 6.8" Aura HD at 1430 x 1080 and the about to be released Aura One is 1872 x 1404. Bigger screens, but higher dpi than the 1024x758 device you have.
