The working (usable) screen resolution

Firstly: hello everyone!

Assuming there is no way of hiding the bottom status bar when viewing a pdf -what is the resolution of the active area? Or to put it another way - what is the height in pixels of the bottom bar?

I'm trying to view a manga on my DR800 and want to author the pdf at the exact resolution of the device so it doesn't scale the pages because the scaling creates really annoying moire patterns (is there a way to disable scale to fit zooming?).

As a sidenote, I wish they let you hide the status bar - why lose so much resolution to something you don't need on screen 99% of the time?

I don't remember the exact number off the top of my head, but I know it's been posted on here before. You might be able to search through old threads to find it. Otherwise, someone with a better memory that I do will probably post it again shortly.

They probably will at some point, it's just a matter of priority. There was a "full screen" mode for the iLiad. I think the DR1000 has one too. They probably just haven't worked it back into the new firmware yet since the viewers were rewritten.

2.0 beta fw for DR1000S does have a fullscreen mode.

I gauge it at 38 pixels but it I just crop to 1000 pixels and let the rest be covered up - I stop the reader from zooming by converting to epub. That's a good enough temporary solution.

I hope I can try and do something about it later this summer when I'm out of work and have lots of time to develop something for it

The exact display resolution is 768 by 981 pixels, but you'll notice that 2 pixels or so are underneath the bezel at left, top and right. Anyway, if you are looking at pictures with these exact measurements they are not resized or cropped.

Thank you! I was off by 5 pixels with my guestimate :) . Did you measure that or did you dig this up from the OS source?

nope, just made a checkerboard at pixel level and checked if the image got rescaled by the viewer... started at 768 x1000 and worked my way down from there until I found the right size

I'm really confused - when viewing an epub made of PNGs 984 pixels high it still crops them more then the expected 3 pixels (I did set the margin in the html files to 0). I get about 933 pixels of the image and it smears them badly which means it's resampling them.

I gave up on epub and following your advice on size I scaled the images to 981 exactly creating PNGs with 16 shades of grey dithered and in turn created a zip packed pdf out of them so I can view them in series. It displays the images pixel perfect now. Thanks.

How do you view your comics then?
