Request Ability to run android on e-ink side.

I'm waiting for Pixel Qi (2nd gen) almost 1 year. And there's still no progress in manufactoring (only comercial samples available).

p.s. The friend of mine tried 1st gen of Pixel Qi when working for OLPC project, and he said that they were not good: too big colors distortions and low contrast. But he doesn't tried 2nd gen, so maybe they look better now.

send them an email asking them if the do one for Edge. It would be very cool if we can have a dual e-ink pixel qi device. so imagine browsing in sunshine on colour screen and reading on e-ink on the beach? no other device, books etc needed for your hols, luggage 7 pounds lighter...

You will loose EE warranty But I'll be interesting in change display in my old notebook.

I would not care about warranty, to send it back to states it will cost me too much. I would prefer a Pixel Qi screen anytime and take the risk. would you mint to put a fund on for opening our Edge to take shots?

I mean to find out what is the video interface, how neat is under the hood, what 3 g modem module may fit, etc?

I believe work on this has fallen off. You can PM robot, the original poster, for information as he's the one that created the video you saw and did a lot of work on this.

I want to read books without a light, and do email in the sun, so I'd like to be able to just have the screens swap roles.

You can read without a light by pulling up a white page (like google) on the LCD side. That provides sufficient light to read the eInk. Alternatively, you can just outright read any pdf or epub on the LCD side easily.

Thanks Dr. T - I just sat out in full sunlight and the shadow cast by the eInk side gave me enough shade to be able to read the LCD.

I just got an android mobile phone and I love it. I would love to see android application development for e-ink without the need for e-ink SDK. I would be willing to go out an market the need for a dual screen so that we could get enough users for an application! LOL!
