This is exactly why I never bought another Sony machine after having one years ago!!!

Sorry, but can you clarify your question please: Do you mean you started in OneNote 2013 (the desktop version) but would prefer to use OneNote (the metro version) and it won't sync properly? Does the metro version open for you?
One thing to look at (and unfortunately I can't really tell you how to change it off the top of my head) is that at least the first time you switch between the two it will ask if you want to change which version opens by default.
I use OneNote on my Surface 3, but I prefer the desktop interface.

Feel the same way about Lenovo - got a nice all in one - they encouraged going to win 8 so I did - after the upgrade I was informed most touchscreen actions would not work - Lenovo never corrected the issue.

Lenovo service is non-existent as well.

Thanks for the warning! My last two laptops have been Dells.
One had a hard drive crash but I was able to replace myself with one twice as big. I've been using it for my DVR/TV receiver for about 5 years now...

The first time I used OneNote on the Surface it opened in the metro app as Read Only as I hadn't at that time activated my free office subscription. Since then I have activated and now I can't get the metro app to sync at all.

I did originally set the desktop version (2013) as the default but i've managed to get that switched off (no idea how) as now the desktop version keeps asking me if I want it set as default. I keep selecting Ask Me Later.

The Desktop version is working fine, its the metro app that just won't recognise I have anything already in OneNote

The only problem I have seen with Windows 10 so far is that DLNA wouldn't work to my Blue-ray player when I tried to view pictures on my TV. Turns out that it must be turned on in the system settings rather than the media player. See the DLNA article in our wiki for details.

The latest being fictionbookreader (and isn't it great how the Windows Store can't find this app because I tried searching for just "fiction"?)

Anyway, I associated all epubs with fictionbookreader and it says "book imports done. Do you want to open new books?" and I say yes, and then .... nothing.

I know it is developers and not Microsoft that need to make the effort, but even the Nook app, the latest comments say it is buggy with Windows 10.

Is there anything decent in the way of a Windows Store app for epub? I am actually prepared to pay for a decent one.
I gave up on metro-style epub readers when searching for one last year on my tablet (8.1). I just installed Calibre and use the reader that comes with that. It's not perfect, but it's the most perfect one I could find.

OneNote is a free office application, you don't need any subscription. I find it odd that it was read-only for you... (I don't have any office products on my SP2, except OneNote for desktops)

About your question, where are your OneNote files stored? The metro app only reads them from OneDrive if I recall correctly.

I've had some reports that with Windows 10, Freda turns two pages when you only wanted to turn one. Adjusting the page turn settings seems to help with that issue.

In any case, I am nearly ready with Freda update targeting Windows 10 (and Windows 10 Mobile when it comes). Expect it to appear in the Store in the next couple of weeks (subject to the time it takes for some last minute bug-fixes. and for certification). It is, I hope, a big improvement on the existing Windows 8.1 application (notably the UI for turning pages, selecting text, highlighting and bookmarking is smoother, and highlight/bookmark/search/translate/lookup can all be done at a single touch using a 'pinned' actions menu).

Thank you. I can get the metro app to sync up to Onedrive now, but not the other way around. I can't get any help from Microsoft Support (it's laughable actually) so I've made my office 2013 desktop OneNote application the default and just got rid of the app from my start screen. I wish I could uninstall it tbh but that's not an option.

I also had a problem if when I opened a new Notebook directly on my Surface from within the desktop OneNote. It wouldn't sync to OneDrive, and in desperation I tried to delete it from within OneNote, it said it was read only and I didn't have permission . In the end I went to the actual location through OneNote (which told me it was a unsafe location and did I want to proceed ) and deleted it from there which removed it from OneNote.

I'll just need to keep an eye on where I set up Notebooks and how everything sits together. It's obvious after today's debacle that it's impossible to actually get any help from Microsoft so I'll just play around with it and see what I can do.

Started to set up Cortona - they require location is on - they require you to use your Microsoft account as your user account information - these people are CONTROL FREAKS!

Ain't that the truth. Did web chat with support to find out why it wanted a password on my Surface 3 every time it woke up even when set not to. Fortunately I only wasted 5 minutes as about the 4th response was "Well, Windows 10 has some different features than Windows 8 does...." . I realized at that point it was going to be a waste of my time to continue the conversation.

Upgraded an older Win. 7 and a new 8.1 laptop with no troubles. Created a recovery disc and then clean-installed on both. Everything went without a hitch. Good work, Microsoft.

I thought that on day 1, then next day I found one pc had no sound, needed a driver update, another needed a new Nvidia driver, monitors reverted to 1024 768 a couple of times... all my lan shares needed resetting. as pcs could no longer access each other... still, it is free, it is activated.... I used upgrade only, clean install of all programs , games, data and settings would be mucho hassle

Okay, this is where I utter my amazement (and not in a good way). Is it really the case that the Kindle app is useless and there are no resonable apps to read ebooks on for a Windows PC.

I never really considered that the Kindle app wouldn't support docs or Cloud Collections.

It's not a big issue really I'm just astonished by how bad the Kindle app is
