Trouble starting Calibre on a different laptop

I run Calibre Portable from a 4Tb portable drive. Have done for years. I just tried running it on a different laptop (which it has run before) and keep coming up with the message below which I cannot make any sense of.

"calibre, version 7.4.0
ERROR: Contacting calibre failed: Failed to contact running instance of calibre, try restarting calibre

Failed to connect to Listener at: \\.\pipe\CalibreGUI-mitchx with error: QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name

b'launched:["calibre.exe"]'

Any help would be appreciated. Running on an HP 2-in-1 laptop Windows 10

Uninstall, delete C:\\Program Files\\Calibre2
(or wherever you chose to install calibre). Then re-install. And
dont worry, uninstalling will not affect your books/settings.
