Question what's calibre cache folder in C: ? can i delete it?

I have used calibre for a few weeks. and now there are like 2.2GB in C:\Users\..\AppData\Local\calibre-cache\. I checked some folders, and I don't want to keep them. I looked up in the calibre menu and didn't find anything related.
what should I do? directly delete them?
some posts I found said those folders are automatically deleted by calibre in its old version.
btw, I'm new here, really love this forum. any response would be appreciated.

Sure, just be sure no part of Calibre is running when you do.
The folder will be recreated next time you start Calibre and things will be a bit slower for a while as it regains from current usage

You can relocate them via an Environment variable

As @theducks wrote you can delete but it will recreate and repopulate up to a similar size based on what you do… view books, use grid view etc.
