You're right, that does give the "Show open windows" command, but it doesn't do anything in my case. I still have the full screen.

Can't you point the mouse at the bottom right-hand corner of the full-screen version and shrink the size by moving the mouse diagonally towards the top left?
I do this a lot.

So then the solution is once you have your settings set, mack a copy of bookdesigner.ini and you can then restore it if the need ever arises.
