Kindle 3

I have a kindle 3 and would love to get the original screen saver to show back on it , all I can get are the special offers as screen savers. I looked under settings and also user's guide but could not fine any thing that gave me a clue about screen savers . So if any can help me out many thanks .

You voluntarily agreed to buy a Kindle for a $25 discount in exchange for receiving the advertising. If you wanted a Kindle without advertising, why didn't you buy one?

All that I can suggest is that you return your Kindle with Special Offers and buy the normal Kindle instead. Amazon allow you to return it within 30 days of purchase.

Hey Lisa, welcome to MR.

Yeah, the guys are right - the ads are part of the deal with the reduced price you paid for the K3, known here as KSO [Kindle Special Offers]. Not much can be done about that stuff.

Give Kindle Customer Service a ring ASAP. Unless money is very very tight, the K3 Wifi is a bargain and not much more than the ad supported one you got. Perhaps they will do a free shipping upgrade exchange for you...

Otherwise, you are kinda stuck...

Hello Lisa, there is a thread here, but it does require a knowledge of terminal commands. After you have read through, you may well decide it's not worth the hassle and ultimately you may just decide to live with what you've got or follow HarryT's advice.

If the special offer screen savers bother you that much, just get a cover. When you put it to sleep, close the cover. No pesky screen to see.
