Author then title sort

In the main graphical user interface screen, I can sort my books in author or in title order by clicking the author or title bars at the top of the window.

I would like to have the books sorted first by author, and then by title.

For example, I can find all of my Sherlock Holmes stories by sorting by author and scrolling down to Doyle, Arthur Conan.

The individual stories in this section, however, are presented (I think) in the order I added them to Calibre.

I looked in the manual, and couldn't find a way to do a combined author-title sort. Is this possible today? If not, should I formally suggest it with an improvement ticket?

I think for what the OP wants the opposite order of selecting the sorts is required (sorting by title within author).

Try this one :

-> Search for Author (now you will see only books from this author)
-> Sort by Title

You are correct.

To the original poster just click on the title column to sort everything by title then click on the author column to sort by author. Now all Titles for a given author are sorted alphabetically.
