Pretty soon, they'll start rationing power so that the hospitals can run hundreds of thousands of ventilators. My two Kobo's remain charged most of the time. Wary of getting a Forma due to some negative reviews. Its form factor is too similar to the Kindle Oasis. Same design company?

My Aura One had to be charged once a 10 days now, reading 20 minutes per day. Never had an issue before this winter, it was running easily a 30 days. Could a firmware borked the battery?

I've had books by big publishers with NO cover. I've had books from small publishers that try to cater to 4K monitors with their covers... and so they put in a 3840x2880 cover or so, taking up 25 megabytes. |

Interesting. I don't mind them sucking up space, as I tend to have only about a 1000 books on my reader most of the time. I just notice a trend to blow the books up unnesscessarily lately.

Hello
With my Forma, I read 1 hour per day, the screen brightness level at 9% Using the cover and sleep mode, I have to charge the kobo every 3 days, even if I am not using it. There is a big issue with the sleep mode. I bought it a year ago and I factory reset it a month later because of this issue but without success. Then I set the parameters, sleep mode after 10 min, switch off after 15 min. Thanks to that now I charge the kobo every 3 weeks. |

In my case, it seems like it drains faster at the start, seems to stay between 80% and 20% for a good, long time, and then starts to quickly drop again after 20%, but typically, I can get several weeks between charges. (I suppose I should note that my comments are based on my experience with a 5-year old 1st generation Kobo Aura and a brand new Kobo Clara HD.) Last edited by the.Mtn.Man; 07-24-2020 at 07:54 AM. |

I recently purchased a Forma. While I haven’t done any formal battery tests, I can vouch that the battery life is acceptable. For reference, I moved from an Kindle Oasis 2. I confirmed my Oasis met Amazon’s spec, yet under normal backlighting and WiFi on it was terrible for battery life. For my Forma, I probably read 5 nights a week, usually an hour, keep WiFi on, and keep a midrange backlight. Under those conditions I charge the Forma once every 2 to 3 weeks and even then I usually have at least 30% left.
Hopefully some of the fixes presented in this forum will work. If not, I would ask for a replacement. Two hours is not right. Something is wrong. Good Luck, Joe |

Except my power settings are still set to default (sleep after 15, turn off never) and I also only charge approx. every 3 weeks. Weird. It's actually "moot point." |

We've got 2 relatively new Formas here. Same problem. Wifi off and power off after every book read. Yet, the battery life is terrible. Both my wife and I are currently charging our Formas again after only 2 days (battery warning popped up). This is a common occurrence. One of the main reasons I replaced our Kindles was that the batteries weren't holding their charges: we had to recharge them every couple of weeks. Yet, now we regularly have to recharge after 2 days.
I love the bigger screen of the Forma. Ditto for the use of the open EPUB format. But, these constant, niggling issues really add up. |

If, at least, we could change the battery ourselves easily. Same for mobile phones.

Usage 1-2 hrs/day, 20-25% brightness, sleep after 15 min., power off = never, refresh every 4 pages, sleepcover, battery lasts at least 2 weeks, sometimes more.

I have a new Forma. I read on it on and off all day. I just charge it when it’s low. I do think the battery life is worse than my Clara HD or my Libra H20 but it doesn’t bother me at all. With all my e-reader and iPads I am constantly topping up the battery’s.
