It's more about the wasted whitespace and extra information that don't really add a whole lot to the experience. I like the simple approach of the Nook and Kindle of having a full-screen image, with a small overlay telling me what I need to know. I feel something like this would work:

- Full screen display of the cover (although using something other than ADE's cover page rendering would be nice, the Nook does this).
- At the bottom, have an overlay, say black border producing a little bit of white space for black text.Similar to the header area when you have the menu up while reading.
- In this area you can put information for the user. "Slide and Release Power to Wake Your Kobo" and possibly even the % read if people like that. I don't really care either way.

The point is that the space wasted makes it feel less like a book, especially in situations where it's using ADE's engine to render the cover page into a fixed 800x600 block.

Please can you give this thing a small digital clock and stop that irritating refresh when scrolling up and down a page or surfing? Love it!

If possible a way to modify the IR "touch" sensor's sensitivity would be wonderful...

Might be a good idea to also add a "defaults" button to all the settable settings in the event that things get too out of whack...

User Accounts?

Hey All!

Would I be the only one who would be interested in having User Accounts on the Kobo Touch? Say I'm sharing my Kobo with someone:
- We could both have our preferred viewing settings
- We could read the same book(s), and our current progress would be saved per-user
- You could show off your Kobo to a friend, without him losing the page you were on by flicking continuously through pages

I also wouldn't mind the possibility of having a basic folder structure in the library, so I could sort my books by categories (Tech Manuals, Fiction, Reference, etc)

Just my two cents

Would love some type of reading now button or touch point that takes me right into my current read. This would be particularly helpful when my current book no longer shows up on the home screen.

Hmm, I'm thinking the situation goes like this?

- Read a book for a bit, go to the home, it's there on the left side.
- Plug it in, add 5 or more books to the device, or download 5 or more samples (or some combination adding up to at least 5).
- Go home, book is missing.

That sounds like an ugly oversight.

Perhaps the thinking is you can easily access your Shortlist from the Home screen. There you would have your current reading list. I've had books bumped off the home screen by new additions and I don't care for it. I always have to open the ones that were bumped off just so they'll be on the home screen again, not necessarily to read at that particular time.

Letterspacing was mentioned earlier, and I also would surely like to see Condensed/Expanded type styles - an extra line or so per screen is a good thing.

I'd also vote for the button waking the Kobo - the slide switch is a real PIA.

Full-screen covers for the screensaver would be a big plus - the current version looks amateurish.

BTW, Calibre does do automatic DRM removal, via DeDRM plugins.

Does anyone else have a problem with black lines when you put it into sleep mode...see picture below. (they disappear after I start reading again) This is my first post so if the pic doesn't work I'll try the BBCode as well, please bear with me.

I have looked at your jpg and that is definitely not normal. You should contact Kobo Customer Support to have this issue resolved.

Thanks! I posted it on Kobo's Facebook Support site and in less than a minute one other person said they have the same problem. I'll see what Kobo has to say. I love the Touch though and the lines don't stop the enjoyment of the reader....yet.

Feature requests in decreasing order of urgency:

1. Get boldface and italic working again.

2. Make all the file formats the KT is advertised to handle actually work, especially Mobipocket. Every single .mobi file I've tried (without DRM, of course) looks corrupted on the Kobo, and I can't even get my KT to load RTFs at all.

3. Being able to zoom PDFs and turn pages with a single touch while in the zoomed state (having a "zoom lock") would be fantastic. Without it, many PDFs are almost illegible, because the print is so small.

4. Text search for all file formats (apart from pure image formats like CBR and CBZ, obviously) would be very helpful.

Those are my top four. I don't mean to be testy. I could easily have bought a Kindle, but my wife and I supported you guys by buying Kobo Touches because of their openness and the wide variety of file formats they notionally support. I know the Kobo team is working very hard, and I gather firmware updates are frequent. Please don't let us new Koboers down, and we'll be sure to spread the word.

Please can you make it so the interface always just has a back button, like browsing the web. When getting into pages and settings I have to go all the way out of the area I am currently in rather than just choosing back, which would take me to the place / page / area I was previously in.

English....sigh.

I would make the Kobo Touch more indicitive to the Kobo non-english users. Kobo has opened bookstores in many forgeign markets and people in France, Spain and Germany want to download localized books to the Kobo Touch. I Know you can load in your own fonts, but it would be good for 1st time setup you have options to make the device fonts, and settings names be in different languges.

From what we have been told, Kobo will be releasing Touch with firmware in various languages -- French, German, and Spanish, I believe.
