Paperwhite: Book keeps auto-downloading

Anyone else experienced this?
I bought a book from Amazon today and later went to delete it from the PW. Within 5 minutes it had re-downloaded to my PW. I've removed and had it come back 6 times in the last hour.
Spoke with CS who said only way to ever prevent a book from auto-downloading was to go into manage my kindle on their site and permanently delete it (as in you will have to pay for it again to get it back). I said that couldn't be right and was transferred to a Kindle specialist who said others are having this problem and an update will be out in the future to correct this behavior.

Anyone else?

The reason I want to delete it is that the book I purchased shows up as an odd font. The PW will allow me to change the font size, but selecting any other font style results in no change at all. So I ran it through calibre and now it acts like any other book and will let me change font styles and I don't need two copies of the book on my PW. Does this happen alot with purchased kindle books? Am more used to epub myself.

Thanks again-

No, thankfully most authors/publishers know better than to force a font on us. It is not an acceptable publishing practice and rarely occurs. However, some older and scanned books are released in Topaz format and since they are similar to PDF we are stuck with whatever font they use. You cannot include fonts in a mobi file but the newer KF8 format does allow that and occasionally you will get a book with an included font. Just liberate them of DRM and font!

This is why it's just best to send the book to K4PC first then fix it up in Calibre then send or email to Kindle. I do this so my Kindles don't get crowded with books.

Is that really the way most (all) Kindles normally work if you buy a book form the device? [I am a Sony user considering making the switch, and have no experience with Kindles yet.] Or is this just a software glitch with the PW? I thought the whole point of the cloud storage feature was so that you could easily store books off the device, but have them accessible. Please clarify if possible.

No, it is not normal for a book to keep re-downloading to your Kindle without your input. I've never had this happen with any of my Kindles, either from purchasing a book directly from my Kindle, downloading is via the Archive or having it sent from the "Manage your Kindle" page.

Software glitch, definitely!

With Amazon, you have total control of what you keep in the cloud and what you keep locally. Also, you can delete books from the cloud for good, but if you do that, you'll have to pay for those again.

Sideloaded books sync across devices, so that's a nice feature I like from Amazon cloud.
