Received my M92: My impressions
Overall the build quality looks great. The Software definitely needs to improve.
Tried out pdf, chm and the experience so far has been very positive. Its just been a day, and I've noticed two nits: 1) When unplugging from the USB charger, I first need to unplug the usb cable from the wall charger and then after sometime remove the cable from M92. If I do it the other way round the stylus won't respond. 2) If I leave it idle for say a minute, definitely not more than 3 minutes. The Stylus won't work. I have to then press a button once or two before it will start working again. Its like the stylus driver has been instructed of a power-save event. Both are recoverable and only software issues. All good so far. Will keep you posted if I find more issues. QA at office and un-officially for Onyx too. Last edited by maindoor; 05-15-2012 at 02:35 AM. Reason: Make a sentence more clear. |

Since you cannot confirm. I again tried just now...still the same issue. Some times the next button works but home button always works. Looks like the whole screen is stuck, because the time on the bottom right also doesn't increment for the two minutes. To recreate: 1) start the m92. open a book. (chm or pdf ). Wait for 2 mins then use the stylus to scroll (nothing happens), click the settings on the left bottom of the screen (nothing happens). To resolve it: I press the home button. now I can use the stylus to click on close. or click on any other place on the screen to return to the document. Also the power mgmt is set to 10 min for standby and 15 mins to shutdown. |

Tried it with the M92 plugged in through the USB. This never happens, so
this strongly suggests power-mgmt settings have gone awry. Even in this case the time never increments. Is this normal. I think it is. It cannot update the time every minute like a computer does. It will need to refresh the whole screen which is not what we want when we are reading a page. Am I right ? |

Ok. After further testing I see that:
1) The screen turns unresponsive around 30 seconds. 2) At this unresponsive period, the stylus doesn't work on any of the buttons or lower part of the page, but If I use the stylus within the top 2 inches of the screen, I am able to get back to work. Does this indicate a firmware issue or a hardware issue ? |

I'm also having similar issues if the device is not connected to the electricity grid. In particular, leaving the stylus near the screen (appr. 1 cm) while making a pause in taking notes would result in the screen not detecting the stylus any more if i don't lift it 5-6 cm away. If i clear the stylus away, afterwards responsiveness is restored . I also assume it is power management driver issue because as i said this is not occurring while the device is connected.
This issue doesn't seem to cause a lot of discomfort to other users though, since it's primarily me that is complaining all the time. Maybe people are mainly using the buttons or are not really taking notes extensively. Cheers |

I'm sorry. Maybe I didn't make myself clear.
Its not using the stylus for drawing or taking notes. Let me restate my problem with a simple usecase: If I open a chm or a pdf and read a page for more than 30 seconds, I will not be able to change the font size or close the application or do anything with the stylus unless I swipe near the top 1 inch of the screen. |

I can confirm, that a pen under uncerntain conditions stops working. It does not happen too often (once in several hours). I have not investigated the reasons, but it might be that pen is for some time idle & close the display. My way to make it work again is to touch the display 5-10 cm from idle possition. It is possible that while moving to a new position I also put the pen far enought from the screen (and the distant touching is in fact unnecesary... ). Last edited by Mono; 05-17-2012 at 05:23 AM. |

Video update of the issue I have with my M92.
Here is the video of the issue that I have:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1vpOJcLkDs As you can see I don't have my stylus anywhere near the screen for it to behave like this. When a lot of folks were complaining about annotations and web-browsing I thought, I won't need all that and that if it works good for just reading books it should suit my needs. To me this is a basic functionality break, something that the device does not do, what it is meant for ie. e-reading. Booxtor, can you suggest any workarounds ? I am not that good with tinkering electronics, but I will try. |

I run the newest firmware (mid-may) and have a white M92 from the february batch of devices. I'd recommend trying several firmware versions to see whether it's a firmware release issue first, and then gather information about the hardware version of people who confirmed the bug as a second step. |

Thank you for the suggestions Kodomo. Sounds logical. I will try them out. Will update with results and observations. |
