PDF reader app
I use GoodReader on iOS and would like to have a similar functionality for an Android tablet, if possible via one-time purchase. What can you recommend?
I don't care whether the app can also do ePubs or is suitable for them, as I will be using it exclusively for PDFs. thx! |

Pocketbook App correctly does page order when tablet is landscape showing two portrait pages. The volume buttons can page turn.
The Xodo app is very good but I can't get it to do the first page at correct side, so the outer edges of the pages are at the middle and the spine margins are at the edges of the screen. Only matters for large tablets. |

Since I don't use Apple products I don't know what GoodReader does. But you may want to test PDFGear on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...feditorandriod
For a reader which supports most formats (pdf, epub, mobi, cbr, cbz etc) I usually use Librera, which also works with ColorDict for various stardict-dictionaries. Unfortunately the annotation functionality is a little weak. This is better with PDFgear and, of course, Xodo, if you use a stylus and want to write something on the side or between the lines etc. |

Also if you want to move between iOS & Android is a different situation. I use the free versions of Pocketbook and Xodo. I do buy some SW, but I will NEVER EVER rent software, that's a scam. I did buy Nebo for Android. I've used it also on a friend's iPad. It's primarily a notebook / notes application and ONLY for Android devices with real pen / stylus (Wacom EMR, USI2.0, NPP/MS, Samsung S- Pen etc). The annotations by Nebo can convert to text, or remain free-form. The text layer can be copy/pasted in any Android/iOS App than can do that, and in suitable Mac, Windows, Linux programs. I use Okular on Linux and used Sumatra on Windows, previously Foxit and long ago abandoned Adobe. |

Nebo is not what I'm looking for. But PDFelement is a kind of Xodo equivalent, only with a much cheaper lifetime version.

Free Xodo seems fine, but for reading Pocketbook is better as Xodo ignores "binding"·

I didn't know that, possibly because I've only extracted annotation text on PDFs on Linux using Okular (simply, select, copy paste). I must look again. I'd not even have attempted to separately save annotations from a PDF on Android.
I've only much actually annotated PDFs with PDF import/export via Nebo on Android, which makes the Kobo version look like junk. Nebo needs a digitiser and isn't everyone's cup of tea, but seems better than OneNote. No use without a proper stylus and poor on eink. Mostly I only annotate epub, on Kobo eink, with touch keyboard. I'd check PDFs for POD (which doesn't need annotation as that's done on the epub version, an Pocketbook App is better). Otherwise PDFs are only for reading and I find Pocketbook on Android best for that. Nxtpaper 14 tablet in landscape (14.25″) with two pagers, for much, or single page portrait for bigger PDFs, I compared the Nxtpaper 11 (I also have) with a borrowed iPad Pro side by side, with comics, PDFs and epub. The iPad was too shiny. My 2002 Dell Inspiron 8200 (1600 x 1200) is less annoying to read on than an iPad. But certainly I won't pay a subscription for software or use features that put watermarks! I actually don't use Xodo since I figured PDFs in Pocketbook and got Nebo (I don't any longer have any Android that doesn't work with Nebo).a |

Google drive PDF reader works well, and Koreader does too.
