Need information
Hi @ all
first of all, hello and sorry for my bad english I'm not native english speaker. I have read that the Kindle 4 fairly easy 'jailbreak' can. I would like to make the Kindle as a status display. So as I understand it, you can run your own Python scripts on the Kindle. Is it possible to create an entry in the Kindle and as soon as I click on this to start my python script? I want to cyclically check the status of my servers, emails, and so on display on the screen. Can i completely write on the display? The possibility of using the screensaver and web server is known to me, but I would like to use an reload from <5 minutes. For internal browser bothers me that I can not use a full screen, if this would work, I would just build a website. thank you and greetings from Germany technoprog |

Sure you can!
Did you already install the KUAL launcher app? If not, follow the instructions here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...reensaver+hack You will need to install kindle jailbreak, Kindlet Jailbreak & Shared Developer Keys, as the thread says, before installing KUAL itself. Pay attention to choose the installation files that fits your device model. Read carefully all the thread content before starting. Then, you will grab python installer from here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...reensaver+hack and install it through the same "Update Kindle" procedure. Then you will be ready to create in seconds a custom KUAL app launcher for your python script! |

Ah, just two more things
- The python version you will be able to install through this procedure is 2.7.5 - IMPORTANT You will also need a terminal emulator in which show the script output... I know one for kindle Touch (kterm), but don't know how is called the one for Kindle 4 and if it exist xD Maybe somebody else could give you better hints on this Last edited by Aeris; 10-23-2013 at 07:16 AM. |
