How do you split a book into chapters?

I've sucesfully split an omnibus into separate books. But the book doesn't 'record' the chapters as chapters.

So I can;t use the 'time left in chapter' stat on the kindle. It just records the entire book as one chapter

Is there any way of manually adding in chapters?

Sure, you can add chapters by manually editing.

We'd need a bit more info about the book.
Is each chapter in its own xhtml file?
Are there chapter headings and what is the code surrounding it?
Is there a table of contents?

Might be easier if you scramble and upload the book.
