I looked at the beta at one point and opted back licketty-split. I also hated it. Still seeing all the old pages, but that’s obviously a tick tick tick situation for me.

The Goodreads change that I see is that the separate login has been removed. Now you login with Amazon, Facebook, or Apple credentials. Not exactly my favorite way to maintain my logins.

The horrible book beta almost everyone hates for a year is finally going live
It hasn't rolled out for everyone - yet - but seems to be making its rounds doing so *shudders* Last edited by Paperbackstash; 08-16-2022 at 10:31 PM. |

It looks the same as always for me.
As for IMDB, I only use the mobile app for the most part: usually I'm watching a movie or TV show so I reach for my phone or iPad mini to look things up. The few times I've gone to the web site lately it is hard to find what I'm looking for. It could well be atrocious, or just that I'm used to the app experience. |

I was taking part in the beta and since I'm using it quite often on my phone, the changes were welcome to me. It was about time for a change of coat.

I only use GR on the phone when I absolutely have to for simple things, so to me it's hideous. On phone it makes more sense. I mainly use Goodreads for group challenges and work, which is almost impossible on the phone.
As for IMDB I only check it briefly sometimes to look up something. I did like the old site better and find the newer style confusing with expanding, but since I rarely use the site it's not as big of a deal for me, just takes me more time to figure a few of the things out. |

I hate that they moved all the information. I always used the “questions” section to get information about content warnings but now I can’t seem to find it readily. It’s not a great look.
Jumped to StoryGraph a few months ago and I’m glad I did. I don’t think this is the death of Goodreads or anything, and I will say I have many gripes with StoryGraph too, they just have more things I like than Goodreads for reading tracking (namely DNF tracking) that it was worth the switch. |

TSG is also much more responsive to user feedback in my experience. They actively seek it and are continually trying to improve. It's always worth letting them know of the things that disappoint/annoy you, the founder is VERY active on Instagram and Twitter largely for that purpose

Even better, Storygraph enables you to to give a reason why you DNF'd the book. However, the option is kind of hidden. They also kind of hide the review button.

Goodreads has been outraging its users since at least '13 and it's still around. They didn't listen to us in '13, so don't expect them to listen to you now.
Determine what is most important to you in a booksite and go with the site that fulfills that core function. |

They don't have to care if every alternative has but a fraction of their users.
