In some cases, you're right. I had issues in here though, because he was replying to a post that was written before some major changes happened. This thread was written before ereader apps were really available on mobile phones, someone commented that ebook sales will pick up and hopefully call for a drop in prices, when ebook readers drop in price. DrDin chimed in about how ebook software is available for free, as if the post he was replying to was senseless. Two years ago, it made a lot of sense.

Prices are headed to Zero, it's the digital trend, music, games, books. Movies are an anomaly I suppose, most likely due to large numbers of people usually involved in their production, I suppose we should call movies moving picture shows, to incorporate "sitcoms" and the like.
Now there are low priced offerings in the games/music/book realm produced by mainstream(corporate) creators, these are outliers in the realm of digital content production and can usually be tossed aside when considering the price of digital content. So we have an infinite number of independent creators uploading to the network, making their work available for free, or we already did and that is why the price trends towards zero? The chicken or the egg, I usually choose both when presented with that question. Every discussion about price is meaningless unless we begin at the idea that there is no price. |

The only question is who pays the price --- and in the end it is always the user/reader. Ad based is not free. Last edited by HansTWN; 05-03-2011 at 03:40 AM. |

"We've been contacted by aliens" says giggleton and they've all moved in... otherwise where do the "infinite" number of independent creators come from?
