Kobo Libra 2 Now £139.99 in Argos UK

Kobo Libra 2 currently at a bargain price £20 off in Argos stores and online in the UK.

Black and White available, and for home delivery too.

I'm tempted to get myself a spare one at that price.

That's because Kobo is having a sale on the Libra 2 for Mother's Day.

I don't think Kobo will ever live that down.

If they're trying to live it down, they're making a poor job of it.

Yes but it's £10 more expensive on the Kobo site at £149.99 so they're not doing a good job.

ps I don't get the Living it down reference.
Would someone explain please?

See post #9. Note the title of the Thread.

This had to do with an ongoing joke for old-time 'Mobilereaders' that Kobo was going to release a new ebook reader almost every day or every year...(it's been so long that I can't remember the exact details). Anyway, we got some mileage out of it: They failed to release one during one year, and I think one was advertised to come out. Now, the source - Good-Ereader - from which the announcement originated (I believe) is another source of much hilarity. "I guess you had to be there / Such a different place," as Brian Wilson states on one of his songs.

Whose Mother’s Day?
Mother’s Day is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. The USA version was first celebrated in 1907. It's the 2nd Sunday in May in USA.

Dates in different countries:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother...ound_the_world

It's celebrated in Britain and Ireland on the 4th Sunday in Lent since Mediaeval times and was historically called Mothering Sunday, but it's been called Mother’s Day since at least Victorian era. So 22nd March this year. A slight respite from Lent when it became strict.

St. Patrick was informally adopted as Irish Patron saint on 17th March when Lent became strict, as a Feast over-rides a Fast. He wasn't AFIAK ever cannonised, nor did he bring Christianity to Ireland (Palladus was earlier). He wasn't Irish either. St Colmcille is an Irish Patron saint with more historical stuff. Bridget is also a Patron saint (1st Feb, but it's also Imbloc, the Celtic Fire Festiva of the goddess Brigit). While Patrick and Bridget existed, most of the stuff about Patrick is myth and virtually all of the Bridget stuff is myth. Patrick never chased out snakes nor used the Shamrock (=young or lesser clover) to explain the Trinity.
