Content server question
I have 8 gb of books in my calibre library on my netbook. Recently I decided to make use of the content server, but i don't want to leave my netbook on all the time. What needs to come with the calibre library directory to the server I'm putting it on that lets calibre on the new computer see my whole library. basically i'm wanting to avoid adding 8 gbs of ebooks to calibre on the new comp.

Not sure what you are asking?
If you want to be able to see all of your library on the new computer you need the whole of your calibre library plus the calibre software running? You cannot see the library that is on your net book if it is switched off! Perhaps I have misunderstood what you are trying to achieve? |

You didn't misunderstand, i did a poor job of explaining it. I don't want to run the content server off my netbook. My netbook goes everywhere with me, and isn't always on or connected to the internet. I want to move my entire catalog off my netbook and put it on another computer without having to re-add 8gb of ebooks. basically is there a file somewhere that tells calibre " hey, heres the books you have and here's where they are located." I think what i'm looking for is a way to import my library to another computer running calibre, if that's possible. If i copy my library to the nw computer, can ii just point calibre to the new folder and have it automatically detect everything in there? |

Yes - that is exactly what you do. Just copy the whole Calibre library folde and all its contents to the new computer; install calibre on the new computer; and then start calibre on that computer and when it asks where the library is installed give it the new location. If you had calibre up and running on the new computer before you did the copy, then click on the big Library icon, and you can then specify the new location.
