I'm going to bump this for a quick question. Are any of the hordes of endlessly pumped out indie sci-fi sold on Amazon worth reading? With the sheer amount of content being produced there must be some gems right?

There's some good stuff out there. Couldn't name anything off the top of my head.

..okay, one off the top of my head: Stephen Euin Cobb. His Bones Burnt Black is simply amazing to me.

Kind of depends on what you like. As they say, one man's treasure is another man's junk.

Some of the indies that I like -
J.A. Sutherland
Glynn Stewart
Nathan Lowell

There are a few others who I've read several books and for some reason or another stopped reading, sometimes because I got bored with them other times because they dropped off my radar.

The Sci-Fi/Fantasy space seems to be having the same problem as indie videogames. There are too many for reviewers to keep up.

A second vote for Nathan Lowell. I'd also like to add to the list:
Mackey Chandler
E. M. Foner
Alma Boykin (lean more Fantasy than Sci Fi)

Wool by Hugh Howey is most excellent. Be sure to get the omnibus edition - this was originally released as a sequence of shorter novellas, but now that those are all completed you can get it as a single novel. Howey's followup book Shift is almost as good. I have not read the third book in the trilogy yet (Dust).

Nathan Lowell is great, drawing heavily on old timey nautical adventure stories, but in space. On the goofier side I thoroughly enjoyed the Bobiverse trilogy and found the Magic 2.0 series good fun. Douglas Phillips' Quantum trilogy was a great hard sci fi read.

This is really the big issue for all authors, getting yourself noticed and staying in your readers' radar. Some authors use online media to keep in touch with their fans, but it takes a lot of work. It really was short sighted of Amazon to cut off sites like authoralert without providing a reliable alternative.

Just finished off J.A. Sutherland most recent, Smuggler, which is kind of a prequel to the Alex Carrue series. We are in a dry period before the May releases. Several of my favorite authors have just finished up series and seem to be taking a break before the next book so I only have a handful of books on pre-order.

They need to get influencers to read their work on YouTube and Twitch. Not out loud, just on camera.

I think that's why Amazon bought Goodreads.

Three great books.

The Murderbot Diaries (4 small books) - Martha Wells

Great read, a funny adventure with some soul searching.

Protype D (2 books) - Jason D. Morrow

More humanity stuff.
