Reader in Calibre server doesnt show highlighting on text in iOS 16 Safari

I started using Calibre Server, when I try to highlight any part of the text, the highlight is not visible (only the beginning and end markers) until I apply any colour

It seems to be a 3 step process:
1) Highlight, gets a toolbar: You select the Highlight pen
2) Now you see the Actual highlight tool (similar to what you show): You need to select a color or mark that is used
3)click The Create button

Thanks for trying to help and sorry that I was imprecise and didn't use proper words for describing my problem; I don't have a problem with creating highlights, but I don't see the actual selection of the text until actual annotation is created;

The title of this topic is imprecise, should be "Selection of text invisible until creating highlight", there is no such problem in Safari on desktop or in the viewer app (the blue indicate the selection which is not visible on the mobile)

For example, on desktop, until the annotation is created I see the selection, this is not the case for the iOS/IPadOS browser
