Just confirmed with kobo support that there is no new forma model coming out. also asked walmart, and all the reps barly knew English so... nothing from them:

Kobo support would not tell you if a new model was coming out though they may have lied by telling the truth since any new Kobo ereader would be very unlikely to reuse the Forma name. As for Walmart? If the Walmart's in your area are anything like the local Walmarts, most of the staff would have no information on upcoming products.

For information on upcoming ereader releases, you could start haunting the FCC site. Alternately, if you aren't into painful boredom, you can check out ereader blog sites -- just avoid Good e-Reader since IMNSHO, their reporting tends to be inaccurate and overly fond of using other people's words without crediting them.

There's two I generally visit.

Nate Hoffelder's The Digital Reader blog. He posts here as Nate the Great though he doesn't seem to be as active as he once was.

Then there is the eBook Reader Blog also run by a Nathan.

A few other sites but those are the ones I check the most often.

It is only on sale in the States. When they had their Black Friday sale they had them everywhere on sale (UK, NL, Italy) so I wouldn't count on it, because end of manufacturing clearance would apply to Kobo UK too, wouldn't it?

Wallmart seems to be the only place where I can find it on sale for 199. Maybe Wallmart is trying to eliminate the Forma line if it doesn't sell well? Used the opportunity and bought one. It is coming today. Very excited! I have A1 right now but it is glitching (was doing it for awhile).

Ok. So it is a US centric sale. Not just Wallmart. Just to point out that for those people that want the original cover Wallmart saves u 10 bucks when u buy them together. Not much of a saving and normally I buy 3rd party covers anyway but well...
