iriver story - feint/garbled screen - help

Hi Guys,

I got a job lot of e book readers and this iriver story was part of it.

It looks in good condition, when you plug in the mini usb charger the led pulses on/off so seems to charge.

When you try to power it on, the screen is feint but at the bottom there is a thin progress bar - when it reaches the right - the screen flashes on and the imagine looks like a diary - but this goes really feint. See attached pictures.
Pressing menu/books and you can make out the screen changing but its feint or appears correct for half a second then goes feint/garbled.
You can open a book but the 'cover page' is distorted and flicking through the pages its all mainly feint - you can just about make out the page numbers at the bottom.

When you press the reset button, it goes off, then power on and you get the thin progress line and it powers up the same feint/garbled.

Can this be saved and bought back to life?

Any help appreciated.

Given the photos, it looks like a problem with the screen controler. I would give iRiver a call.
